Looking forward to your comments, questions and observations!
What do you think about changing/evolving spiritual gifts? I know that in the past my test have shown gifts that don't show up when I take a test now?
Kyle, great question. Since tests are for the most part a guide I would think that actually sitting, studying the gifts themselves and then trying stuff out is a great way to discover a gift. In doing that I have found that sometimes experience in ministry, maturity in Christ and life situations sometimes influence our spiritual gifts.
I've heard that there are differing opinions on whether, the Spiritual Gifts talked about in the New Testament are exhaustive or whether they are just some examples and that there are many more not mentioned. I think the latter, because as human beings we are such complex individuals already, and I believe God did make everyone of us unique, thus there has to be more than 17 spiritual gifts. What do you think? Anyone
Here's another question. In understanding our spiritual gifts, wouldn't it be important to understand our whole S.H.A.P.E (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences)?? Anyone.
Oh, in addition to my SHAPE question, more importantly I'm interested in how all of that works together? You know, what does your heart's passions tell you about your spiritual gifts, or how your abilites can be used to fullfill your heart's passions and in turn using your spiritual gifts? Does any of that make sense? Anyone.
Last comment for a while, more so in my question of understanding how the rest of my SHAPE fits in with my spiritual gifts, the ones I think of most often are my heart's passions, and my personality. For example, I have a heart passion to share the gospel, so a spiritual gift I would imagine to have would be evangeilism? Or another one is, I believe I tend to have a postive personality, so in my thinking I would imagine perhaps I have the gift of encouragement? So ultimatley, I'm wondering two things: How do we decipher from our heart's passions, our natural abilities, our unique personalities, and life experiences, what are our spiritual gifts? And when we do, then how do several spiritual gifts work together especially if one may be stronger? (ie: gift of pastoring, teaching, and leading)Ok, i think that's all that was on my mind. Anyone.
Ed,
I am a fan of introspection and discovering how and why we have the perspective we do. Learning about your S.H.A.P.E. is a good thing, but for some it is seems like a lot of work to discover all this stuff about themselves. Some people also figure they know themselves and that defining them is putting them in a box they may not want to be in.
But God gives us all gifts to help the body. These gifts can have an immediate impact on others and can actually be easy to discover or begin the process of discovering. That is why I think the topic can and should be broken out in a overall congregational setting. An individual or group S.H.A.P.E. study could be a great blessing to those individuals involved, but a corporate Spiritual Gifts study is a blessing to everyone.
Don't mean to fill up the comment board, but I thought I would post my results and see if anyone has a comment or would like to do the same

Leonard posting on Merrily's account... Kyle and bill, looking at each others gifts what could you see each other doing in the body of Christ?
I can see Kyle coordinating different size events. From cookoffs to full scale ministry outreaches. I think he has the gifts and talents to motivate people and the discipline to ensure the details are complete.
Just a guess
Don't discount yourself Bill. With your skill set you can be a leader and a motivator. I can see you in a leadership role that involves more personal interaction. Perhaps you can have a larger role in a care ministry where your wisdom and encouragement will play out. Or perhaps in Mens ministry where leadership and helps can play a big part. Leading men involves doing with purpose and helps/service goes a long way toward influencing guys. Plus your scores are overall higher than mine which suggests to me that you are a confident individual which also is great when working with men.
With all of the discoveries through this series and in my reading I guess I just have to develop these gifts and use them for what God put them in me for. Thank you Kyle for your insight
It's quite interesting looking at the results of people's gifts test and being able to see those gifts in people. I want to see some others...

I really didn't reconize these personality traits as spiritual gifts. I've started to "rethink" in terms of the person I am, and the personality or gifts God has given me and how to use them in my every day life to the fullest advantage.
I wasn't too surprised at my results either...

So Brenda, what ideas have you come up with as to how you will use your gifts/traits? Perhaps organizing outreach ministries or planning an event? What about in your daily work routine?

Could someone describe apostleship/prophecy better? Ive asked a few people about them but would like to hear what you guys have to say.

Prophecy is the ability to take God's word and apply it to any situation - through comfort, confrontation, challenge/coaching, etc.
The word Apostle means sent. Apostleship means having the heart, willingness, enthusiasm, and call to go in the name of Christ.
Hope that helps.
